Touristy Venice
The sight of the Grand Canal upon stepping out of the train station surprised me, as i did not realise that the train station was at the centre of Venice.
Sights along Grand Canal
Over-crowded vaporetta on a rainy afternoon. Made me think of the Titanic song.
Interesting Confectionery.
Postmen using trolleys for delivery and accepting of mails.
Ard San Marco Piazza, where tourists and pigeons swarm are at their peak.
Ghetto for Jews, instituted by the Venetian Republic in 1516 as a compulsory residence for Jews. Interestingly, the term ghetto seems to originate in Venice, a contortion of the word geto, which means to throw/cast.
The sight that really stuck me was the sight of San Lazzaro Degli Armeni. The entire island had fortress-like walls forming its perimeter, and waves lashing against the walls. It gives the impression that the walls had been built from the depths of the sea.
